My husband and I had been trying for only 2 months but as we had both made our minds up, we wanted to get pregnant asap. So, for the third month we decided to try using a Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. Ok it is a lot of money to spend and yes you have to also buy the box of 20 sticks, however I think they're much better than using the ovulation kits.

It was really easy to use. Telling me what days I had highs & peaks. I am delighted to say just a few days ago we tested and I'm pregnant! So I would 100% recommend buying one! I had heard it can take a couple of months to get used to your cycle but luckily for us it happened the first month!

I bought this whilst on honeymoon and almost 2 months after stopping the pill. The purchase was early in May 2010.

I got my first period on my honeymoon of all times!!!! The instructions for the monitor suggests you wait until after your 2nd period after stopping the pill - I started after my first as my husband and I both wanted me to fall pregnant asap.

My first month was spot on with a 28 day cycle but no peak days were detected. I used all 20 sticks.

My second month predicted my high and peak days but again, used 20 sticks. I believe this was due to the fact that my high/peak days were at around stick 9 or 10, therefore the monitor will want to keep testing to build up a good picture of the cycle. My cycle actually lasted around 32 days that time.

My third month predicted my high and peak days, earlier than the previous month and so I only used 10 sticks. However, my cycle was only 23 days.

My fourth month predicted my high and peak days around a similar time in my cycle as month 2 and I used 20 sticks again. I expected my cycle to be around 32/33 days.

Today is day 33 of my fourth month and I tested this morning to find that I am pregnant!!!!!

My husband was away with work around my peak days in months 2 and 3, so in essence I have fallen prgenant very quickly.

I have gone into so much detail because when I read the reviews, I was almost put off, some of them were complaining about using all 20 sticks and others about not falling pregnant. In fairness, if your high or peak days are around your 10th stick, I think it's important for the monitor to keep testing. It is also important to remember that this does not and cannot guarantee pregnancy, it is merely a useful tool to show when you are at your most fertile in your cycle. There are many factors to consider in getting pregnant and this monitor couldn't possibly account for all of those factors.

Use this monitor sensibly - combine it with taking your temperature. Chart your low, high and peak fertility days along with your periods and you may see a pattern in your ovulation - I did (but it could have been a coincedence given I have only had peak fertility readings for 3 cycles).

This is a marvellous piece of technology and it comes highly recommended by my husband and I!

This product seems to be very good, I didn't realise at first how expensive it would all cost, but from Amazon a very good price, I also bought the sticks else where. I didn't read the instructions first properly then found out you can't start using the monitor until you are actually on your period so it messed it up slightly and I had to wait a couple of weeks! Overall I would recommend this monitor to anyone trying to get pregnant.

Happy!!

Hi All,

Bought this on amazon about 6 months ago and bought a couple of lots of test sticks with it. As a person with PCOS I read lots of various articles on how it may not work. I take a drug called metformin which is meant to control PCOS and also may in effect help the monitor work better. Anyway as a person with PCOS I don't get a period so I pretty much started using it without the knowledge of cycles etc. I told the monitor I was on day 1 and went from there - it started asking for tests on approx day 6. I did the tests as asked - sometimes it went from low to high with no peak (first month) then 2nd month was just low. Month 3 was low to peak with no high and then month 4 went low to high to peak, this was the month it worked out for me.

Just tested this morning and am pregnant.

I found this extremely useful. As I don't get a period I have no idea when I actually ovulate so it was invaluable for me.

Can't recommend highly enough - if you have PCOS talk to your doc about metformin and start using this now!!

Good Luck Everyone!!

3 out of 5 stars Use 4/5 sticks per cycle not 10 or 20   August 14, 2010

This is accurate as my period comes about 16 days after peak fertility is detected. I have found though that you don't need to use 10 sticks per cycle. I usually can get away with 4 or 5 by using a stick every second day. And once peak fertility is detected you don't need to use it again that month. If you start checking from about day 10 onwards you save on having to use so many sticks per cycle. The booklet recommnds using only sticks from the same box. This is bad advice. I've found mixing sticks from different boxes makes no difference. The manufactuers just want you to throw away remaining sticks and spend more money on new ones. I recommend if you haven't got pregnant within 6 months of using this then get your husband to have a sperm test. A preblem was detected with my husbands sperm and that is why I haven't got pregnant yet. It think (short of a miracle - which I pray may happen) it will be IVF for us. Good look everyone!
