Excellent shaver; not so good trimmer. August 11, 2010

This is the first body shaver I have ever purchased, and I was hoping it'd be as easy as made out (on the box). The simple fact of the matter is that it isn't! With the shaver and trimmer, to get that perfect cut you have to go over body zones more than once; and with the trimmer I found you have to press excessively hard against your skin to actually get a cut. Was useless at trimming my arms, legs not so bad; however the shaver was good and left me smooth yet somewhat patchy. I'm being generous giving 4/5 as opposed to a 3/5, and even though you have [...] knocked off the original price its still somewhat dear for its performance. But there is no denying that in the aesthetic field this shaver is outstanding. I hope its newer cousin priced at [...] performance better.

The product does what it says on the tin as you can shave all body areas with the body groom but I felt it wasn't giving me a close enough shave on my chest but that's probably because I have very thick chest hair but otherwise its a brilliant product.

I bought this as a replacement for one of the Remington trimmers (designed for women but it did the job very well for many years!) I used to own. When I received the item, I had mixed feelings. Cosmetically it is a very good looking, well made device. However to me it looks like Philips have over-engineered a simple solution. Instead of a simple body trimmer, they have invented an aircraft carrier!
My biggest complaint about it is a serious design fault comes with it. The main trimming head (showing attached to the device in photos 1,2 and 4) has 2 side cutters which makes it impossible to trim your groin area without cutting yourself (as one of the earlier reviewers correctly said, make a slight wrong movement and it cuts your vegetables!). It is not possible to remove those two side cutters from that trimming head so with that design fault, this cannot be called a 'body grooming' item. I am surprised to see that many reviewers have given 5 star rating to this. May be none of them are using this to trim those areas.
Other than that it is a beautiful product to own. Solid build quality (those trimmer attachments are made from cheap plastics though) and a powerful product for the job. I am tempted to give this 4 stars but with that design fault it doesn't fit for groin areas (as Philips claim) so it only gets 3 stars.

Having tried various body trimmers and shavers in the past, I wasnt sure at first about buying this one. However, I'm so glad I did, because its brilliant: very easy to use, and trims hair in all areas.
The guy who said it was no good for using on balls can't have known how to use it properly. I've used it for this a few times and have had no problems whatsoever, even without the comb guide attached. I was able to shave everywhere using just the foil and no combs: really smooth and no irritation at all.
I would highly recommend this body trimmer, great wet or dry, and it does just what it claims to do.
