Probably the best earplugs September 5, 2010 sanwas Very good quality product, well designed and comfortable. They really do keep the noise out and can be worn overnight without any discomfort. The little box they come in is very handy for travel. They last much longer than cheaper earplugs.
Ear plugs September 1, 2010 Jo As a shift worker I often find myself having to use ear plugs to block out normal day time noises. I have tried various types and find Quies the best. They are effective as noise barriers and score the best with me for comfort, given that I hate anything in my ears!!!
comfortable and they work August 27, 2010 itsonlyme I used to buy these from my local chemist until it turned into a Boots and they started selling their own brand. These are the only earplugs I have found that actually feel comfortable and work. My partner snores and I cannot hear him but can still hear when the baby wakes up - so great for me.
You could use these to sleep on a buildings site... and I have! August 21, 2010 P. Banks (Cambridge, UK) These ear plugs are very effective - if you use them properly. The walls in my student house are paper thin and I can hear every time someone opens the door, goes to the toilet or sneezes; however, with the plugs fully inserted, I cannot hear a thing. At home, my house is a permanent building site, with saws, hammers and sanders blasting away in the early hours, but they can only be heard as dull thuds!
It does have it limitations: it doesn't block out low-pitched noises very well e.g. if you live next to a person with a very low voice!
A few tips:
-The plugs have to be rolled very thinly between the thumb and forefinger, then quickly inserted into the ear. You have to put them fairly deep to be effective - this can be a bit uncomfortable at first, but you quickly become accustomed to it.
-Don't wash them in hot water: this makes them sponge like and they become useless.
-If they are uncomfortable, place only 1 plug in and sleep with the other ear to the pillow.
Very Good August 6, 2010 E. Wardle I like these plugs, Ive used them on motorbike circuit days - very effective and comfortable. They need squashed/twisted to insert, then they expand in the ear to create a good fit. Best I've tried.
